My #1 Homeschool Curriculum Resource

If you are a new homeschooler or a veteran and don’t know of this resource prepare to be blown away! One of THE most stressful jobs as a homeschool parent is choosing curriculum. I call it the Curriculum Conundrum.

The Curriculum Conundrum:

  • What subjects do I need to teach?
  • What approach/style should I choose? And what does that even mean?
  • What type of learner is my child?
  • How much is this going to cost?

Let me introduce you to my #1 homeschool curriculum resource.

There is so much I love about this catalog. The first time I received my catalog and looked through it, I felt like I could breathe a little easier. Not only that, but I began to get excited.

If I can leave you with one tip today, find a curriculum that excites you.

A curriculum you feel you can get behind as it were. Because when you’re excited to teach, your children feel that passion, and it affects your homeschool atmosphere.

Back to the catalog. As soon as I opened the cover, I saw Rainbow Resource’s “Choosing Curriculum the FAMILY Way”.

Page 1 gave me insight into the different homeschool approaches. The definitions are short but oh so helpful. I learned that my style is a “Charlotte Mason” inspired, “Sequential”, “Montessori” approach. You see you don’t just have to have one style. You have the privilege of picking any style that suits your homeschool vision.

Page 2 explains under “Individual” the different ways of learning. Boy is it true! Even within the same family, your kids can have their own individual way of learning. For me, I choose a multi-sensory approach and look for curriculum that utilizes this approach.

Then comes the fun. Pages and pages of curriculum to read through. Love it! Yes. Really. I love it.

Above every curriculum listing, it has these 5 icons to aid in it’s description which is super helpful.

The catalog is organized by subject and at the beginning of most subject areas they give a graph to help those that unlike me may not want to read every curriculum listing.

And if all this wasn’t helpful enough, the very last page gives you the “Curriculum Planning Worksheet”. This section was particularly helpful to me as I was trying to figure out all that Language Arts entails.

Who knew Language Arts had so many different subjects that need to be covered? I do… now.

All of these reasons make the Rainbow Resource catalog my top homeschool resource. Not only is the catalog amazing but also the company. The prices they offer are among the best. Shipping has always been fast and dependable. Plus, on their website, they offer so much more. Curriculum review videos. A homeschool blog. A customer service that is ready to answer your every question.

I get asked by my friends all the time, “Is this a multilevel pyramid scheme business?” And I just chuckle. No. I’m not selling anything. I don’t work for Rainbow Resource Center. I receive no renumeration for this post. I simply find this company to be so incredibly helpful that I can’t resist sharing.
